General Summary of Position
Responsible for providing staff support to designated projects with the opportunity to gain an understanding of how hospital operations integrate across the healthcare system and are supported by corporate services, and to observe, first hand, the patient experience at hospital sites.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Actively seek opportunities to continuously improve systems and processes.
  • Attends and prepares minutes from Leadership team retreats and Executive Operations Council meetings.
  • Attends MedStar Board Meetings and Board Committee Meetings.
  • Completes special projects as designated by MedStar Corporate Executive Team and MedStar Leadership Team.
  • Contributes to a diverse set of groups across MedStar by exchanging information, collaborating with other team members, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Develops a broad range of skills in healthcare management, administration, and leadership.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, facilitates the John L Green Scholarship Program to include program enhancements and selection process.
  • Offers information and perspectives regarding current trends and issues to stimulate new ideas and thinking.
  • Organizes and manages the recruitment and selection process for the succeeding administrative resident.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Master's degree in Business Administration or Hospital Administration required or degree pending completion of a one-year residency required

    Experience

    • Previous experience with project management, program planning, etc. within the health care industry, such as internships, preceptor ship, fellowships, etc. preferred

    Licenses and Certifications

    • No special certification, registration or licensure required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • Ability to present and communicate complex information to the team and to internal clientele.
    • Solid proofreading skills.
    • Initiative and follow-up skills, high attention to detail, adherence to deadlines, and strong problem-solving skills.
    • Advanced project/time management and strong organizational ability on large projects.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as an independent contributor.
    • Strong analytical skills including financial analysis and MS Excel.


    This position has a hiring range of $21 - $23
