Mobile Health Center Nurse Practitioner – PRN with MedStar Health's Care Transformation – Baltimore Region Team
Knowing you need a medical appointment is one thing, but having access for our most vulnerable patients in the community is another. The MedStar Mobile Health Center offers a solution in communities across the Baltimore area near Medstar Union Memorial Hospital, Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital, and Medstar Franklin Square Hospital. We are expanding our services to a second mobile health van.
The MedStar Mobile Health Center is seeking an experienced PRN Family Nurse Practitioner with at least two years of NP experience in primary care, emergency room, urgent care, FQHC, or other community health settings. This candidate will have a passion for mobile healthcare, public health, and/or serving vulnerable communities across the lifespan. The mobile health center provides primary care services, urgent care, wellness exams, on-site testing, and addressing social determinants of health needs.
The candidate must feel comfortable addressing common acute and chronic illnesses and complex disease states as the sole medical provider on the van, with access to a medical director on call. There will be an interdisciplinary team of a registrar, community health advocate and medical assistant/phlebotomy on the van. Clinic on the mobile van is open four days a week at set sites throughout the Baltimore region.
Our ideal candidate would be the following:
- 2+ year's experience providing care/support to underserved populations including those who are uninsured or underinsured
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and triage skills
- Self-starter who is flexible, innovative, and compassionate
- Interest in community outreach and quality improvement
- Available for at least one day a week for clinic, and the occasional weekend event
- Ability to travel to various sites throughout Baltimore City
- Masters Degree in Nursing or Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited School of Nursing, and active license in Maryland required
- Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
- DNP, MBA, MHA, or MPH credentials preferred
