Role

This role sits within the Portfolio Intelligence program and will lead all technical product development across a range of product lines. The incumbent will act as a product expert, working directly with commercially focused product manager colleges to determine the most strategically aligned approach to meeting their customers problems. The incumbent will decipher business requirements into technical requirements, leading a group of world class technical product managers, data experts & by extension, UX expert collogues to define an integrated future roadmap for Portfolio Intelligence products.

This role will sit alongside engineers, defining and building technical solutions. Importantly, the VP of Product Management will drive the long-term technical priority roadmap with their engineering counterparts, ensuring the most efficient use of engineering capacity. The role will also be responsible for managing external vendor partners, ensuring they deliver on integrated roadmaps and long-term strategic projects.

The incumbent will also act as an expert on AI & ML technical requirements for the Portfolio Intelligence program. They will manage a program of work to experiment with new technologies and techniques, focused on unlocking new customer solutions, more efficient infrastructure, and broader product innovation for the program.

Overall
Holds accountability for end-to-end product development of Portfolio Intelligence products (defining product solutions in conjunction with commercial product managers, CX, technical requirement development, product testing, market launch etc.)
Shares accountability for application quality and developer productivity with engineering counterparts

Product Development
Articulates integrated technical product vision and strategy while maintaining a clear and achievable Roadmap (including priority mapping)
Identifies/understands customer personas and works with commercial product managers to develop products that solve proven customer problems
Adheres to Mastercard productization practices as well as industry leading frameworks, leading to efficient capital investment & quality product
Identifies opportunity for technical efficiency with engineering partners, aiming to build a quality foundation of technical products that are fit for market specific conditions (localization laws etc)
Maintains & drives data consistency governance of Portfolio Intelligence products with Mastercard data standards
Maintains & manages commercialized product quality & performance governance
Works with regional product & commercial counterparts to ensure all appropriate technical product support exists, resulting in excellent customer experiences

Vendor Management
Assesses vendor capability & negotiates commercial agreements to deliver efficient solutions
Maintains a clear governance structure with vendors to delivery & manage their priorities to agreed roadmaps and budgets
Fosters strategic relationships with Vendors, creating a global network of potential partners to the benefit of Mastercard customers

Financial Management
Managers own expense budget effectively to achieve maximum value of investments
Owns governance in conjunction with engineering partners of product development resources and engineering allocations across Portfolio Intelligence products
Manages vendor budgets and investments, ensuring efficient return on investment for Mastercard

Product Innovation
Maintains focus on new technologies, including data science technologies that are relevant to Portfolio Intelligence products (including potential uses of AI & ML techniques)
Innovates existing product architecture, moving Portfolio Intelligence to an increasingly advanced state of integrated product offerings for customers
Drives broad collaboration across Mastercard services & core products, leveraging global best practice to improve all Mastercard customer offerings

People and Collaboration
Manages a team of expert technical product managers & data scientists virtually across global locations
Develops and “raises the bar” on quality of product management talent, both within team and across broader product management community
Collaborates across Mastercard product organization, acting as a leader and influencer of global best practice product development



All About You

Experience with budget management, vendor management & vendor commercial arrangements
Technical product management experience with proven success, launching strong customer focused solutions
Strong data science experience, specifically with ML techniques and knowledge of more recent AI trends (including expert forecasting & multi-objective analysis techniques)
Demonstratable experience navigating a multi-layered global organization, influencing both global & regional collogues (including virtually)
Strong project management skills
Experience effectively leading senior technical product teams spread across multiple locations & time zones
Desire to roll up sleeves and make direct contributions, specifically with peers inside & outside the Portfolio Intelligence program
Strong knowledge of Business Intelligence technology and desire to apply technology to solve problems
Strong communicator & demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior executives
Knowledge of the financial services industry, ideally including both retail banking and payments
Agile product management experience with ability to agree on user experience and engineering partner roadmap
Bachelor's degree required in technical field with mathematical background preferred

Total Base Pay Range

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
