Title and Summary
Vice President, Asia Pacific Regional Controller Overview:The Asia Pacific(“AP”) Regional Controller is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the AP financials in partnership with the GBSC and providing advisory support to the business teams across a number of areas, including: accounting & controls, deal structures and terms, and M&A. The Regional Controller is responsible for ensuring that strong controls are in place and are functioning as expected. Additionally, the Controller is expected to foster a culture of continual process improvement and a strong control environment beyond finance.
Role:
This role will oversee and manage the controllership teams across AP ensuring that the financials are accurate both from a US GAAP perspective as well as a local GAAP perspective – where local financial statements are prepared those will need to be compliant with local accounting frameworks and legislation. The Regional Controller will manage this process and the timely filing of these local financial statements. From a US GAAP perspective, the Regional Controller will oversee the monthly and quarterly financial reporting requirements for the AP region, which will require collaboration with key stakeholders such as the AP Regional CFO and Corporate Controllers. The Regional Controller will be at the forefront of providing accounting support and process enhancements in AP related to new business transactions and revised accounting guidance.
Key responsibilities include:
• Ensures integrity and accuracy of financials for the AP Region and has primary responsibility for ensuring company compliance with external and Corporate accounting requirements
• Guides financial decisions related to business transactions including acquisitions and investments by providing accounting/regulatory advice and by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
• Provides guidance on highly complex and emerging issues and prepares technical accounting memorandums in response. Consults with Corporate Accounting as appropriate
• Ensures a strong control environment by establishing, monitoring and enforcing operational and SOX controls based on corporate guidelines and general governance standards. Both support and challenge managers to identify areas where controls can be strengthened
• Leads M&A due diligence and integration from an accounting & control perspective
• Drives continual process improvement agenda
• Ensures ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports and advising management on needed actions
• Manages multiple teams, providing support and guidance and ensuring cohesive teamwork throughout the controller organisation
• Supports the key strategic business and finance objectives across the region
• Regional funds governance committee member
All about you:
You are an astute, experienced and methodical individual responsible for the integrity of financials within the Asia Pacific region both at a US GAAP and local GAAP level, with great interpersonal skills with the ability to drive a culture of process improvement and robust controls. A seasoned controller, with a passion for controls and an ability to lead and guide on the region's strategic financial initiatives. A passion for people, promoting a great internal team culture with an ability to develop and retain key talent.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• Strong experience in accounting controls and financial processes within a global organization.
• Successfully led complex cross-functional projects, teams or committees.
• Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant.
• Strong knowledge of US and local GAAP, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley regulations.
• Proficiency with accounting and finance systems/software applications.
• Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to provide solutions that drive positive results.
• Experience building collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at the global/regional or local level
• Strong project management, analytical, and financial skills. Extensive experience delivering presentations and engaging with senior leadership
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to influence and achieve goals through analytical and leadership skills.
• Established as a trusted advisor to business partners; consults on complex technical accounting issues to final interpretation in order to ensure the integrity of the financials
• Capability to integrate knowledge across disciplines.
• Effective leadership and relationship development skills. Extensive experience growing and motivating a team; coaches members through career milestones and progression.
• Experience setting strategy for process improvement initiatives along with developing procedures for implementation.
• Market and industry knowledge with strong presentation skills.
• Proven ability to challenge and improve processes.
• Demonstrated successful oversight of the management and resolution of high-risk issues to ensure completeness and efficiency.
