Title and Summary

Senior Vice President, Technology Operations Automation Overview
The SVP, Technology Operations Automation will accelerate the delivery of Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure and Internal Products (known as “Harness services”) by resolving automation challenges in both Public and Private Cloud areas that support all Mastercard applications and products. This role is crucial for enabling the Technology Strategy to locally deploy products in hybrid technology regions that encompass both private and public clouds, such as Azure, AWS, and others.
The SVP will report directly to CTO Operations and will have influence and direct responsibility over other program teams and their initiatives, related to automation components. Resources are expected to be around 12-30 (at least 2 and possibly up to 5 scrum teams) with indirect responsibility and strong influence over 100+.

Key Objectives & Considerations:
• Develop and own a common and consistent approach to Automation for Infrastructure Delivery which will support the entire scope of Mastercard Private and Public cloud, including the provisioning of all Network, Compute, Storage, Database and Security services (over 40,000 changes per year and 100k of configuration items)
• Make measurable progress with a clear and consistent roadmap that lays out which automations will be tackled 1st, 2nd 3rd etc prioritized by business value and customer impacts first, then by reduction of internal ONE and Technology wide pain points.
• Leverage work, programs and teams that already exist where possible and supplement them with key automation capabilities to streamline work and ensure improvement in controls.
• Breakdown work structure by pulling these accountabilities together and use governance to ensure a federated model will be viable across ONE and the broader technology team.

Scope of Work:
• Governance and reviews of automations to ensure consistency across local automation teams
• Ensure Automation are properly tested and monitored
• The team will own the Automation Framework Standards and play a key role in Software Engineering for Infrastructure (ONE) and all other Internal Product teams.
• This team will chair the Software Defined Everything Special Interest Group as part of the SE Guild
• Development of critical cross-functional automations and utility functions to enable automations to be reused and build faster by other teams
• The team will maintain ownership of automations until a suitable home is found, ensuring stability and continuity.

High level responsibilities:
• Establish central strategy for infrastructure automation
• Definition of interconnection rules/contracts
• Inform/reform strategy based on ecosystem changes
• Oversee/govern implementations and the software development associated with new Universal Platform Controller and Open Service Broker integrations.
• Obsess over end-to-end alignment and execution of use cases
• Stay abreast of strategic initiatives in existing ONE teams, ensuring automation is a requirement
• Advise and offer expertise in support of technology procurement
• Incubate, guide, or lead teams
• Incubate new teams of software engineers heavily aligned with infra organization for later transplant (SDN-like example)
• Guide existing software engineering teams in infra organizations (IAS-like example)
• Lead a central team building and operating automation/APIs for small enough use cases on behalf of infra organizations
• Be the horizontal glue for the organization when it comes to the Automation and Process improvement initiatives to streamline workflow
• Design, build, and operate tooling and capabilities that benefit all automation initiatives

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
