Title and Summary

Senior Software Engineer Overview
• Responsible for the analysis, design, development and delivery of software solutions
• Defines requirements for new applications and customizations, adhering to standards, processes and best practices

Role
• Responsible for programming, testing, implementation, documentation, maintenance and support of systems application software in adherence with MasterCard standards, processes and best practices.
• Automate and simplify all aspects of software delivery and development by actively evangelizing the need to automate and simplify where needed
• Develop scripts/programs to perform upgrades with zero downtime and document run books.
• Support internal customer integration to our application.
• Participate in team feature and story walks with project stakeholders
• Able to troubleshoot and refactor existing code
• Adopt new languages and architecture patterns needed for the work
• Influence the decisions made by the team
• Assist peers and less experienced members
• Demonstrate active learning and sharing of software practices via engineering community initiatives
• Participate in code and design reviews
• Actively participate in squad ceremonies
• Work collaboratively and effectively in a fast paced environment

All About You
• Strong understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and agile methodology
• Has the ability to write secure code in C, C++; familiar with secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT) and vulnerability management
• Proficient in an object oriented language
• Proficient in a scripting language (shell script preferred)
• Experience creating unit tests and knowledge of unit testing framework
• Experience developing on Linux operating systems
• Experience developing in a team environment with a source control tool (Git/Bitbucket preferred)
• Willingness and ability to quickly learn and take on new challenging opportunities
• Has the ability to develop and document test strategy following Mastercard testing standards
• Actively seeks and participates in activities that stretch one's existing skillset
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
