OVERVIEW:
• This is a global role instrumental in supporting the Strategy and Corporate Development Lead for Asia Pacific (AP) in developing, articulating and executing Mastercard's Strategy and Corporate Development initiatives alongside Senior Leadership and Regional and Global Product and Services teams to further Mastercard's strategic plans
• The candidate will support in identifying and analyzing potential investments, mergers, acquisitions and divestiture opportunities closely working with business and support functions and help in making recommendations on the potential impact of an opportunity on Mastercard's capabilities and products. The candidate will also bring strategic insight to the Mastercard AP business and help identify growth opportunities as necessary
THE ROLE:
• Perform supporting activities for investments, acquisitions, joint ventures and divestitures in AP and globally; build financial models and financial business cases in preparation for negotiations
• Assist with sector analysis to develop potential pipeline of transaction candidates based on capability gap, pain point or strategic priority identified by business which needs to be addressed through inorganic means
• Perform analysis to support strategic acquisitions and investments that support the global growth strategy; Build business case in collaboration with business teams
• Support all aspects of the investment / acquisition (M&A) processes including valuation, due diligence, and coordination with external parties like investment banks and legal advisors
• Perform analysis to help determine the financial impact and risks of potential acquisitions and investments
• Assist businesses in certain situations in their capability gap / opportunity analysis exercise
• Record, maintain and update deal database with quality input on a regular basis by tracking potential opportunities and organization action / response to them
• Prepare regular updates to AP Leadership team on pipeline
• Communicate with different areas of Mastercard to validate and coordinate market and product priorities at the regional and global level
• Support, coordinate and lead cross-functional and cross-regional teams with no direct reporting lines
• Role will be based in Singapore or India
ALL ABOUT YOU:
• Excellent commercial and financial acumen, modeling skills, and experience in conducting complex financial analysis and building financial models to support a transaction are a must.
• Experience working with large data sets, synthesizing large amounts of information and summarizing insightful findings on potential transactions
• Investment Banking/ Private Equity / Venture Capital / Consulting experience with a background in payments/ technology preferred. Knowledge of Mastercard products and services is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with markets in AP and having a network of relationships across the technology and payments ecosystem, venture capital, private equity and investment banking firms will be a plus
• Demonstrated success in supporting Strategy, Investment and Corporate Development activities
• Fluency in Mandarin and English preferred for work in North Asia
• Bachelor's degree required, MBA or postgraduate preferred
• Previous experience in a global/international role preferred with multi-cultural sensibility required
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management as well negotiation skills and the ability to influence across Mastercard
• Experience in Process and Project Management skills with proven ability to understand and coordinate within complex organizational processes and consolidate input from multiple stakeholders
• Highly motivated with good work ethic and proven commitment to adapt and champion time sensitive processes while operating in a global matrix-ed organization
• Fast learner and able to link diverse sources of information to Mastercard business including ability to handle confidential information with appropriate discretion
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills - ability to communicate findings in a compelling manner to internal and external audiences including senior executives
• Advance PowerPoint/Excel skills required. Previous experience in developing Board level materials will be an advantage
• Sound judgment to act autonomously and identify emerging issues and escalate them as required
• Ability to occasionally travel internationally depending on business needs
