Overview

Services within Mastercard is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. We provide value-added services and leverage expertise, data-driven insights, and execution.

Supporting the Mastercard Fraud Intelligence services members of this team have an opportunity to build new and extend current fraud detection and prevention services. This exciting area within Mastercard is growing fast and creating cutting edge technologies that help to prevent fraud across the globe.

This is an agile team that will be balanced across full stack engineering and data engineering. The team will also provide leadership for other teams in using strong architecture and technology delivery practices that create the best solutions.

The Lead Test Engineer role will ensure these products continue to meet the high expectations from our customers by notably improving existing functionality, updating stale or outdated functions, proactively adding scalability while continuing to add enhanced value to these products.

Role

• Collaborate with a talented team of developers and engineers to design, build, and improve fraud management applications.
• Ensure the highest quality standards by delivering comprehensive Quality Engineering services: from code quality and testing to performance engineering and automation.
• Work with agile testing frameworks (e.g., BDD/TDD), including tools like JUnit, Cucumber, and JBehave, to write automated test scripts for front-end, API, and system testing.
• Conduct exploratory testing to ensure the system functions as expected for end-users and identify potential issues before they arise.
• Break down user stories and define detailed test plans for unit, functional, integration, and regression testing.
• Track testing progress and manage defects using JIRA.
• Continuously improve our testing practices, tools, and processes to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Collaborate with a diverse range of teams, including developers, operations, product managers, and program managers, to understand project scope and drive high-impact testing and quality outcomes.
• Lead by example in adopting best practices around Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Automation across the organization.

All About You

• Java coding experience and proficiency in using JUnit, Cucumber, and JBehave frameworks.
• Experience with testing Web services, Web UI, and APIs (REST/SOAP).
• Strong skills in test automation and integrating test suites with Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins, as well as using code coverage tools like Sonar and Clover.
• A passion for code quality and implementing best practices in testing and development.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix, Spring, and Eclipse IDE.
• Familiarity with performance engineering and vulnerability tools such as Sonar, Checkmarx, and Fortify.
• Excellent technical skills and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
• Strong understanding of traditional testing methodologies, with an emphasis on applying exploratory testing*in an Agile environment.
• High energy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across teams.
