Lead Software Engineer Overview:Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Access to Capital team, part of the Small and Medium Enterprise Engineering group. In this key leadership role, you will drive the design, development, and delivery of robust, scalable, and high-performing software solutions that empower small and medium businesses.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping technical strategies, guiding the engineering team, and ensuring the successful execution of projects.
Small Medium Enterprise Engineering's organizational goal is to build innovative solutions and products that enable Mastercard to provide competitive solutions to small and medium businesses.

Role:
• Find solutions for complex software problems across services and facilitate cross-functional team interactions to drive resolution.
• Write secure, high-quality code to build and improve services while advocating for code reviews, scanning, and adherence to development best practices.
• Define, design, and implement scalable solutions to meet evolving business requirements.
• Define and drive architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with business goals.
• Champion best practices such as test-driven development, code reviews, CI/CD, and observability to deliver reliable, maintainable software.
• Inspire and mentor engineers, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive environment. Provide feedback and technical guidance to ensure team growth.
• Drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs in working with product partners
• Identify opportunities and build roadmaps to enhance primary service/function.
• Identify bottlenecks in development workflows and implement improvements to drive team efficiency and productivity.
• Lead incident resolution efforts and ensure root causes are identified, with solutions implemented to prevent future occurrences.
All About You:
• Extensive background in software development, delivering impactful and scalable solutions.
• Proficiency in software development languages, including but not limited to Java and Java-based frameworks (Spring, Spring Boot), React or Angular, and JSON.
• Demonstrated expertise in containerization, container orchestration, microservices, REST services, and cloud technologies, preferably Azure or AWS.
• Hands-on experience with databases, such as PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
• Strong understanding of technology selection, system architecture, and full-stack development principles.
• Proven ability to deliver large-scale, complex software programs with measurable business impact.
• Skilled in performing code reviews, conducting troubleshooting and debugging, executing root cause analysis (RCA), and resolving coding errors.
• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes.
• Knowledge and application of unit testing and automation testing frameworks for robust software delivery.
• Adept at mentoring developers and coaching teams on best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies.
• Exceptional analytical, presentation, and problem-solving skills to address challenges effectively.
• Strong communication abilities to collaborate across teams and articulate complex ideas clearly.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience.
