Title and Summary

Finance Manager / Financial Controller Overview

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a broad finance background, with the ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams, contribute to the finance team and consistently produce exceptional results.

This job is ideal for a person with a strong technical accounting background, good analytical skills and an ability to drive projects through to completion. The critical components are energy and intellect, combined with a “can do” attitude.

Role
• Provides financial support to a number of Mastercard legal entities, including tax and financial statutory reporting, budgeting, management of intercompany agreements, revenue and tax planning. This position will assist the Finance Vice President for Mastercard's legal entities in the UK, Ireland, Nordics and Baltics.
• Generate legal entity and transfer pricing forecasts.
• Oversight of month end accounting and journal postings/reconciliation generated by the shared service centre. Engaging with various departments within MasterCard to ensure any issues or variances are investigated and resolved.
• Support the business in delivering monthly and quarterly reports that measure business performance metrics.
• Support ongoing statutory accounting requirements by effective planning and preparation in advance of statutory audits commencements. Effectively manage the audit process, ensuring that all queries are responded to in a timely manner and the statutory audit is completed on time and on budget.
• Drive tangible business insights and recommendations through quantitative analysis on a broad range of projects, with the goal of improving efficiency and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with the FP&A Lead to support board presentations. Provide financial support on complex accounting and reporting matters for customers – new contracts, billing and revenue recognition. Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Ongoing System enhancements and implementations to support rapid business expansion.
• Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance. Support AP, AR, Payroll, Tax and Treasury queries when they arise.
• Participate and lead broader European Controlling projects as part of the annual controlling objective setting process.
• Provide financial support for ongoing finance activities and ad hoc projects within the Services Division up to 25% of time throughout the year.

About You

Skills & Experience

The Ideal Candidate Would Have

• Bachelor's degree preferred. Qualified Accountant (ACA, AMCA, ACCA)
• Comfort with innovation & new areas
• Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency & accuracy
• Significant experience of statutory accounting, US GAAP and the ability to significantly contribute to the business.
• Ability to manage multiple activities in a condensed timeframe
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Advanced MS Excel skills essential
• Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently through obstacles
