Position Summary Under general supervision; using independent judgment, performs a set of diverse clerical duties in acquiring, processing and maintaining assorted information or materials related to an administrative function, performs the patient registration, scheduling and insurance verification processes. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care. Position Responsibilities Unit Specific Position Responsibilities Compiles, processes, and maintains moderate to large amounts of diverse information according to prescribed procedures used by the department served and/or outside agencies or vendors; performs related checks and balances as required. Weekly reconciles the CRC cash box per policy (delivers deposits to the business office). Relays, receives and/or verifies the accuracy of information such as patient billing, insurance coverage, medical records or vendor information. Performs various typing tasks requiring moderate to high proficiency in the use of personal computers used in patient registration, patient billing, inventory control and/or departmental employee records. Maintains general office records, files and/or logs according to established procedure. CRC Kronos entry. Assists in training new volunteers in the Cancer Resource Center as assigned. Creates and Formats customized data reports. As the first point of contact for the majority of customers, sets tone for outstanding customer service through prompt and courteous telephone answering, scheduling for customer convenience, prompt notification of CRC staff upon customer arrival, and notifying Coordinator of any customer concerns immediately. Performs the patient registration process including obtaining prior authorization from third party payers as needed. Maintains electronic calendars for all Cancer Resource Center staff, and is responsible for scheduling with physician offices and clients. Works with and is responsible for maintaining the security of general patient information, family income and/or credit ratings. Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word. Provides computer expertise and acts as a resource for the Cancer Resource Center. Assists patients with wig fittings, ordering and maintenance including tracking utilization of the program for the MGMC Foundation. Manages inventory of head coverings, wigs, bras and prostheses. Participates in fittings for bras/prosthesis. Procures required documentation/scripts per HWD DME regulations. Frequent contact with the general public, other employees, or out-side agencies. Scheduling of genetics appointments and initiation of electronic family history tool. Completes general screening regarding status of previous genetic testing for patient/and or family (requests reports at the time of scheduling). Schedules patient appointments with all CRC team members. Assists with data management for NAPBC and CoC Accreditation. Prepares cancer program meeting agendas with cancer program standard requirements. Completes timely, accurate and thorough documentation following each meeting ensuring that all required discussions support cancer program standards as outlined by the ACoS and NAPBC. Participates in monthly Emergency Management drills representing the CRC and disseminates information accordingly. Completes department maintenance/safety checklist log as per requirements of the Medical Center. Qualifications, Knowledge # Experience Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): Basic Life Support#(BLS)#training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Associates degree or equivalent experience. Organizational Requirements: Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements. # Preferred Qualifications: # Required Knowledge, Skills # Experience: Knowledge of basic spelling, punctuation, grammar and basic business math; knowledge of general office practices and procedures; knowledge of human relations skills. Ability to select appropriate work procedures, analyze problems, determine corrective measures and initiate corrective action within the limits of operational policy.
