Position Summary: The Department of Anesthesiology at LSU is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Anesthesiologist for an academic faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor (non-tenure, clinical track). The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care, education, and research, with a desire to contribute to the academic mission of the department. This position offers a unique balance of clinical practice, teaching responsibilities, and opportunities for scholarly activity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality anesthesia care across a range of surgical specialties, including general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and subspecialties as per the candidate's expertise.
- Supervise and teach anesthesiology residents and medical students in both clinical settings and academic conferences.
- Participate in educational activities, including lectures, and curriculum development.
- Engage in research activities with support for academic development, including clinical trials, research, or basic projects.
- Contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and evidence-based practice protocols.
- Share in call responsibilities, working closely with a collaborative team of faculty and residents.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board certification or board eligibility (or equivalent) in Anesthesiology.
- Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before start date.
- Demonstrated commitment to academic anesthesiology, including excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A record of scholarly publications or funded research.
- Experience in curriculum development, academic leadership, or quality improvement initiatives.
