Job SummaryThis role requires the candidate to dual-hat as a report writer while actively engaging in the planning and structuring of a data warehouse aimed at supporting future capabilities such as Business Intelligence (BI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with Power BI, high proficiency with SQL. The individual must have a keen interest in building out a data warehouse conducive to a rapidly expanding business, dealing with diverse data types and structures; including but not limited to Engineering and Manufacturing data.
Job Responsibilities• Design and generate reports for critical business functions, examples such as Sales Reporting, Labor Efficiency, and Program status, while building the foundation for a comprehensive data warehouse.
• Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software
• Deep understanding and operational knowledge of ERP systems, particularly Deltek Costpoint, are essential
• Contribute expertise to the use of the Atlassian suite, especially JIRA, for project tracking and management processes
• Oversee installation, configuration and upgrade of database serve r software and related products
• Design, code, and schedule scripts/jobs to update, maintain, or transfer databases and simplify data entry for users
• Monitor access time, perform validation checks and use other methods to monitor and analyze database performance
• Maintain and document database objects (e.g. scripts, views, jobs, indexes, etc). Ensure that documentation is up to date, complete, and aligns with established standards
• Take appropriate measures to ensure acceptable performance, sustainability, and scalability
• Perform complex technical trouble shooting and provide consultation to development teams
• Develop and apply procedures relating to database and application security including access controls
• Establish, test and maintain disaster recovery and archive procedures
• Design archive, recovery and load strategies
• Interface with database vendors for technical support
• Evaluate and provide guidance around the selection and implementation of database features and database related third-party products
• Maintain documentation for database configuration and architecture
• Coordinate with end users and technical staff to implement and maintain systems that utilize industry best practices to meet business objectives, while maintaining the security and integrity of the data, system and network
• Develop project plans, provide direction and coordinate project activities associated with the installation, evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of business solutions and when required, manage a small project team to implement chosen solutions that require Information Technology expertise
• Review and monitor the progress of projects to ensure accuracy and timeliness and provide periodic reports to management
• Provide functional direction and technical expertise to less experienced personnel
• Prepare, coordinate and support user training and documentation and provide technical assistance for postimplementation support issues
• Provide service desk and technical support to users
• Devise solutions to system-related problems and issues through coordination with users, other system analysts or engineers to assess and identify probable conflicts and investigate diverse data elements and sources
• Work with management to define appropriate standards, policies, procedures, software tool sets, and supporting peripherals to facilitate the management, accountability, functionality, and security of systems
• Provide ongoing trend analysis for determining current needs and future resource requirements
• Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
• Lead the design and development of architectural layouts or enhancements to databases
• Review description of changes to database design to understand changes and how they will affect data stores in terms of physical characteristics
• Maintain timely and accurate helpdesk records using the ticket management system
• Assist with the detailed project planning efforts on larger projects, and may act as a project manager on smaller efforts
• May review proposals, including gathering facts, analyzing data and preparing project overview to compare alternatives
• Provide technical input to the development of Information Technology project planning
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Show initiative in constantly reassessing business requirements and make suggestions that proactively address changing business needs
• Protect organization's value by preserving the confidentiality of information
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, management information systems, mathematics, information technology, computer sciences, a related field, equivalent experience
• Two (2) to five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience performing database management, administration, and data warehousing
• Knowledge and programming experience within Atlassian suite, particularly JIRA.
• Proficiency in Powershell / Power Automate is favored
• Solid background with Windows OS
• High attention to detail and proof of ability to produce clean data structures and reporting
• Provides planning and implementation guidance for incorporating new applications to the database system
• Experience in current principles and practices of managing database systems and ability to modify and maintain databases for specific user requirements
• Experience with principles, methods, and techniques used in all phases of database development, coding, and design, including business analysis, event modeling, logical and physical database design, data access analysis and design, DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management. Experience with Windows, SQL server, and related database tools
• Ability to coordinate system resources with system operators, system and application programmers, and other users
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to successfully interact with all levels of management, other IT professionals and end -users
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
• Is open and responsive to change and demonstrates a commitment to the process of continuous improvement by identifying and responding actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers
U.S. Citizenship required.
The expected pay scale for this position is $89,573/year - $136,670/year. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate's relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
