Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Systems Engineer to join our team specializing in Naval Communications Systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, integration, testing, and maintenance of advanced communication systems for naval vessels. This role requires a strong understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of naval communications.

As an Intermediate Systems Engineer, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

Design and Development:

  • Design and develop communication systems for naval applications.
  • Ensure system designs comply with military standards and regulations.
  • Perform detailed analysis and modeling to predict system performance.

Integration and Testing:

  • Integrate communication solutions into existing naval systems.
  • Conduct system-level integration and testing to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during testing phases.

Systems Management:

  • Requirements Management using DOORS
  • Coordinate development deliverables in Confluence and JIRA
  • Prepare technical documentation and reports.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.

Operations and Maintenance:

  • Provide support for deployed communication systems.
  • Develop maintenance plans and procedures.
  • Train naval personnel on system operations and maintenance as required
What you require to be successful in the role:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in designing and developing communication systems, preferably within a naval or defense environment.
  • Hands-on experience with RF, digital, and networking technologies used in naval communication systems.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in systems engineering practices, including requirements analysis, design, integration, and testing.
  • Familiarity with Requirements Management using DOORS
  • Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA
  • Familiarity with naval communication systems and protocols.
  • Experience with simulation and modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they relate to communication systems.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications such as INCOSE CSEP, CISSP, or equivalent are a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support integration and testing onboard naval vessels.
