Job Summary

As an evolving and forward-thinking company, we are seeking an experienced Intermediate Systems Engineer with specialized knowledge in cybersecurity requirements and communications systems. The successful candidate will be passionate about protecting system integrity and ensuring seamless communication within complex network infrastructures.

As an Intermediate Systems Engineer, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
  • Implement and manage cybersecurity measures to protect systems and networks, including data encryption, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Analyze existing security protocols and propose enhancements to defend against emerging cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate cybersecurity measures during the design and development phases of communication systems.
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and security audits regularly to identify potential issues.
  • Develop and maintain documentation regarding system security configurations, standard operating procedures, and protocols.
  • Participate in the design of secure communication architectures that meet organizational needs and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance related to cybersecurity and system communication during the planning and deployment of systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends, issues, and regulatory compliance requirements affecting communication systems.
  • Train staff and stakeholders on cybersecurity best practices and incident response protocols.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that communication and cybersecurity solutions are effectively integrated into all aspects of the system lifecycle.
     
What you require to be successful in the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering with a focus on cybersecurity and communication systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls).
  • Experience working with communication protocols and network infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of security technologies (e.g., VPN, SSL/TLS, AES, IDS/IPS) and operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, UNIX).
  • Familiarity with secure software development practices and the software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in using cybersecurity tools for vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce reports and conduct presentations.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH).
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Understanding of encryption techniques and key management.
