PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide support for the Elementary Spanish Volunteer Program.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assist in the recruitment process for the volunteer Campus Elementary Spanish Volunteer Coordinators and Assistant Coordinators at each elementary campus.
- Provide initial training to new Campus Elementary Spanish Volunteer Coordinators.
- Provide orientation training to Campus Elementary Spanish Volunteer Coordinators throughout the district at the beginning of the school year; may have an orientation later in the year for volunteers that sign up late.
- Work with the World Languages Coordinator to update and maintain the Spanish Volunteer Program website.
- Coordinate the recruitment and placement of Spanish Volunteers to go to Elementary campuses 30 minutes per week to teach children Spanish lessons.
- Prepare materials such as flyers to be included in first day packets.
- Assist in disbursement of materials.
- Assist the World Languages Coordinator to inventory and order Spanish Programs for campuses as needed.
- Attend campus and district events to recruit interested Spanish Volunteers.
- Regularly communicate with World Languages Coordinator; meet in person approximately four times per year.
- Organize end of school year inventory and program completion for the school year.
- May research extra materials to purchase if additional budget.
- Gather feedback and make recommendations for continuous improvement of program effectiveness.
- Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Education/Certification/Experience:
- Valid teaching certificate preferred. Bilingual certification in Spanish preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of Spanish volunteer program goals.
- Skill in organizational and interpersonal relations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with volunteers and campus staff.
- Frequently communicates with LISD employees and public. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
- Ability to understand, remember, and communicate routine, factual information.
- Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis.
- Ability to make decisions which have moderate impact on immediate work unit.
- Ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports and/or to orally communicate technical information.
- Ability to communicate with individuals utilizing a telephone, computer or other electronic device.
- Use standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
