Title: Supplier Quality Engineer - Electrical
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 – 12 months +

Overview

  • Will lead activities with suppliers to assure quality is built into every component and items meet company Sensors requirements.
  • We are looking to transform and create a best-in-class supply base that will enable “zero defect quality culture” and significant growth within the business.

Responsibilities
  • Work with assigned suppliers to organize and implement actions to assure delivery of products and/or services that meet established requirements and fulfills customer needs and expectations
  • Coach suppliers regarding Operational Excellence, Root Cause Corrective Action, Problem Solving, Lean Six Sigma etc.
  • Lead, drive, and support root cause and corrective action investigations with the supply base
  • Review and approve FAIRs, PPAPs, 8D reports, verify effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Effectively facilitate supplier assessments/audits on time
  • Maintain compliance to established procurement and quality systems
  • Develop and oversee necessary supplier Zero Defect continuous improvement plans
  • Lead initiatives and special projects as assigned to support commodity and supply base improvements
  • Implement plans to drive key metrics, such as cost of poor quality, supplier recovery, defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement/effectiveness, PPAP completion, audit execution and corrective and preventative action closure
  • Analyzes data to identify chronic underperforming suppliers and establish a rhythm to monitor PDCA process to ensure improvement.

Required Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 + years Supplier Quality experience (handling electronic components, cables, Wafers, PCBs, knowledge of automotive APQP, PPAP Package, VDA Standard, IATF Standard, IPC Standard)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Automotive, Medical, and/or Aerospace
  • Advanced knowledge/ experience with PCB, PBAs, electronics, wafers or connectors
  • IPC-600, IPC- 610, IPC-620 Knowledge certification
  • Root cause analysis/ Problem solving / Lean / Six Sigma acumen
  • Knowledge of quality tools FAIR, PPAP, APQP, 8D etc.
  • Knowledge of Automotive, Medical, Aerospace &/or Industrial standards (IATF, AS, ISO, etc.)
  • Results oriented, driven individual
  • Ability to successfully interact within a quality, engineering, design and manufacturing communities and the supply chain

Additional Information
  • Monday – Friday / 7:30am – 4:00pm EST
  • Open to remote candidates, but willing to travel up to 50%
  • ITAR Required
  • Long-Term with possible extension after 6 months and indefinite possibility for conversion to FT employee (for the right candidate)

Travel Requirements
  • Travel is required within the US, Mexico, and Canada
  • Must be comfortable traveling to Hampton, VA facility whenever needed
  • Company will reimburse for all travel costs (car, airfares, and train), meals and hospitality
