Description

As a Senior Operations Technician, you will be expected to be both innovative and collaborative, working hands-on with other disciplines to develop and implement improvements. This role will primarily drive improvements through operational support of 5 S activities, Just Do Its, Spot Technical Support, Kaizen, problem-solving paths, and other Lean transformation activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication: Develop and fabricate tables, workstations, carts, tool stands, poke yoke devices, fixtures, ergonomic assists, safety devices, and other devices to improve quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Modification: Modify existing equipment and/or man-machine interaction to improve process optimization.
  • Collaboration: Work with operators to turn improvement ideas into workable, safe solutions.
  • Optimization: Assist in layout optimization efforts and repurpose old or scrap equipment for safe reuse.
  • Event Support: Support Kaizen events and assist in problem-solving issues affecting daily operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure all improvement solutions meet OSHA safety regulations and ergonomic standards.
  • Maintenance: Maintain overall shop cleanliness and safety, and assist with 5S & housekeeping activities.
  • Basic Maintenance & Equipment Use: Proficient with the use and maintenance of basic fabrication equipment, forklift, or shop equipment.
Knowledge/Qualification:
  • Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools used for fabrication, welding, and general mechanical repair.
  • Structural: Working knowledge of safely designing, building, and verifying basic mechanical structures and shapes constructed from various materials (wood, steel, aluminum, etc.).
  • Electrical/Pneumatic/Hydraulic: Working knowledge and experience in these areas.
  • Production and Processing: Basic knowledge of local Xylem production processes, quality controls, costs, and efficient ways of working.
  • Safety/Ergo: Strong working knowledge of OSHA safety rules and ergonomic guidelines.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a fabricator, welder, machinist, mechanic, maintenance tech, integrator, programmer, team lead, or other related positions.
  • Proficiency in the use and maintenance of basic fabrication equipment.
  • Openness and interest in learning and eventually coaching others on effective operational and continuous improvement tools and techniques.
