Job Title: Scientist I
Location: Athens, GA (with possible travel to Cornelia, Flowery Branch, Baldwin, GA)
Pay: $24.50 - $25.00 per hour
Shift: Monday - Friday, First Shift
In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests and ensuring product quality in accordance with established procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with laboratory experience who are looking to grow within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine independent testing using laboratory instruments such as Instron, HPLC, GC, FTIR, Viscotek, and glass viscosity meters.
- Recognize problems during analysis and document observations accurately.
- Maintain precise records of test results, documenting any non-conformities or issues.
- Perform daily calibration/verification checks on laboratory instruments.
- Support investigations into non-conforming materials and test results.
- Archive test documentation and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to safety and environmental policies, including proper use of PPE.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure quality objectives are met.
- Contribute to LEAN and Six Sigma initiatives for continuous process improvement.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a laboratory or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a GMP laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of GMP, ISO, and safety guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform light physical tasks.
- Comfortable working in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as Starett Gauge, Mitutoyo Gauge, and Microscope.
- Experience using software such as SAP, LIMS, or ComplianceWire.
