Description

Kelly Engineering is hiring an experienced Dimensional Quality Inspector for a 6-month contract opportunity with our Downers Grove based client. 

2nd shift 3PM - 11:30 with OT available

You will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet AS9100 quality standards and specifications. Your expertise in GD&T and precision measurement tools like calipers will be crucial in maintaining our reputation for high-quality energetic solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed inspections of components and assemblies using GD&T principles to ensure compliance with all engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to measure parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Interpret technical documents, including blueprints, and schematic drawings to identify measurement requirements.
  • Record inspection results, complete inspection reports, and maintain records of quality checks.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to identify and resolve quality issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending changes to improve the manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Participate in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; further certification in mechanical or quality engineering is a plus.
  • Strong experience with reading close tolerance blueprints, GD&T, including a thorough understanding of symbols, terms, and concepts.
  • Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, gages. Any CMM operation (a plus)
  • At least 2 years of experience with dimensional quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience documenting quality results in a highly regulated industry such as aerospace, automotive, medical device, or pharma, is highly preferred. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
