Quality Control Engineer | Marshall, MI
Direct hire | Full-time | On-site

Kelly® Engineering is seeking multiple Quality Control Engineers for direct-hire roles for their battery manufacturing client in Marshall, Michigan.

Client is open to assisting with relocation expenses.

Summary
Collaborate closely with process engineers to maintain the highest quality standards in manufacturing processes. Your role will encompass supervisory responsibilities alongside deep technical engagement with process control methodologies.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in analyzing process quality data, identifying key issues, and ensuring the continuous improvement of processes.
  • Develop effective early warning systems and preventive measures against recurring or systemic quality issues.
  • Analyze and resolve on-site issues and lead initiatives for the digitalization and intelligence of quality management systems.
  • Manage the first article inspections, AM projects, Non-OK products.
  • Lead factory cleanliness acceptance inspections, prepare detailed reports, identify non-compliant items, and recommend advanced improvements.
  • Conduct equipment acceptance inspections upon arrival, identify issues, and drive corrective actions for improvement.
  • Oversee equipment qualification post-acceptance, address qualification issues, and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Assess proposed changes, approving only those that are necessary, and rejecting unnecessary modifications.
  • Perform process audits (VDA 6.3), risk identification (FMEA), and drive quality improvements.
  • Analyze real-time data to develop digital and intelligent solutions.
  • Coordinate with central PQC team to acquire comprehensive AI scenario lists and integrate appropriate AI solutions.
  • Lead the organization and execution of process and product characteristic monitoring.
  • Responsible for implementing and managing control processes and quality control systems, ensuring they effectively address operational feedback.
  • Identify and address potential quality risks and safety concerns based on control points and requirements from corporate documentation.
  • Monitor and guide the application of improvements across key projects, responding to customer complaints and safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance production quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant corporate and departmental KPIs and management requirements.
  Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Quality Management
  • 3-10 years of experience in process quality control management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies, ideally certified at the Green Belt level or above, indicating a strong capability in data analysis and process improvement.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a multidisciplinary team effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control practices and compliance regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record in project management.

Travel
  • This role will require travel to China for training

Physical requirements
  • Ability to move around work sites, which may include walking, standing, and climbing ladders or stairs.
  • Flexibility to bend, kneel, or crouch, particularly when inspecting installations or troubleshooting
  • Capability to lift and carry moderate weights, typically up to 25-50 pounds
  • Ability to work in various environments, including offices, construction sites, and manufacturing facilities.
