QC Laboratory Manager - Belle Plaine, MN

We are a growing, regulated manufacturing company producing OTC pharmaceuticals, homeopathic remedies, and medical device components. We seek an experienced QC Laboratory Manager to oversee QC lab operations. Responsibilities include managing staff, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations, monitoring data, investigating deviations, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with other departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, mentor, and supervise a team of lab technologists.  
  • Manage team schedules and workload to meet deadlines. 
  • Promote a culture of quality and regulatory compliance in the laboratory. 
  • Manage lab equipment: calibration, maintenance, and qualification.
  • Maintain inventory of lab consumables and supplies to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Oversee sample receipt, handling, and analysis.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure test accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain QC programs (stability, environmental monitoring, vendor qualifications, water testing, hazardous waste, preventive maintenance, data trending).
  • Monitor QC data for trends and issues; take corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, GLP, FDA, USP regulations through assessments and documentation review.
  • Investigate and document out-of-specification results, deviations, and non-conformances; implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, proper handling of hazardous materials, and waste disposal.
  • Review and approve test protocols, data analysis, and lab reports.
  • Assist in regulatory inspections and third-party audits.
  • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain data integrity practices and quality trending data in the lab.
  • Stay current on analytical techniques, methodologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation issues.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of lab techniques, instrumentation, and data analysis.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for QC laboratory activities.
  • Collaborate and communicate with production, quality assurance, and regulatory departments to ensure seamless integration and handle testing results, deviations, and quality issues.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related field.
  • Pharmaceutical QC lab experience, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical regulations and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of microbiological methodologies and experienced with analytical instruments (HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.) and test methods.
  • Skilled in data analysis and interpretation. Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong knowledge of lab safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficient in writing technical documents, protocols, reports, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects with tight deadlines and effective time management.

Direct Hire
Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:30
$ 75,000 - $85,000/year
