Job Title: QA Supervisor  
Location: Skokie, IL
Shift: 2nd | 2:30pm-11:30pm | Mon-Fri
Salary: $65-75,000 + Benefits


SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is an employee who is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Quality Assurance Specialists and COA Technicians. Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the development, training, enforcement, and monitoring of programs that ensure food safety and food quality.  This is to assure we meet the food safety objective of delivering safe quality products that post no risk to consumers. This position will report the quality department related issues as appropriate to senior level management and will be engaged in customer and 3rd party audits and visits. Facilitate, monitor, and control the plant QA procedures/policies while helping to solve production issues with appropriate risk assessment and CAPA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible to report any food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Oversee daily activities of QA Specialists and COA Technician
  • Handle day-to-day production issues/concerns/questions/requests
  • Holds:
  • Place on hold materials due to quality, food safety and positive release reasons per Hold Policy
  • Release products which are on hold when approval is received
  • Delegate closure to hold reports in the database after confirmation has been received that disposition has been carried out
  • Train QA team on execution of holds and work to reduce the number of holds generated.
  • Perform final verification on all CCPs identified in company HACCP plan.
  • Assist in mock recalls for primary packaging material, raw material and finished goods
  • Participate in audits conducted by third party auditor, customers and local/state inspectors
  • Assist in investigations on poor quality issues and customer complaints
  • Assist in filling out customer questionnaires, where needed
  • Contact suppliers/brokers regarding issues in regard to raw materials – Example:  COA, code date/best by date, quality issues
  • Perform final verification on all CCPs identified in HACCP plan as well as participate as a HACCP team member.
  • Lead team in internal audits verifying that findings are recorded appropriate to the program and addressed/closed-out in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with engineering review of equipment and policy related to projects and contractor activity.
  • Assign departmental staffing and manage employee attendance.
  • Coordinate other daily activities as necessary or required by the QA department.
  • Assign training to new QA Specialists
  • Approve and submit purchase request for QA supplies
  • Report any food safety and quality issues to QA management so that proper steps can be taken immediately
  • Cover for QA Specialists when necessary / Conduct tasks outlined in QA Tech-COA Coordinator and QA Specialist job descriptions
                                               
REQUIREMENTS
  • 3+ years of increasing management responsibilities in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor of Science degree in biological field, food science, biology, microbiology, etc.
  • Previous experience supervising a team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, and outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and management style.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Collaborate successfully with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environment
