Engineering Project Manager | New Hudson, Michigan (must live within a commutable distance)

Kelly Engineering client seeks an Engineering Project Manager to work for their clients New Hudson, MI office. Client is an industry leader in automation design assembly for powertrains.
Role Overview
This position responds to customer needs and is their point of contact for any questions and concerns. Responsible for project performance, customer quality requirements, project schedule and budget, project team, and reporting on all aspects of project performance and progress to employer and the customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Ultimately responsible for the technical quality and commercial success of assigned projects.
- Understands customer specifications and project objectives.
- Primary customer contact for all post-sales activities from handover to completion and maintains the communication strategy as agreed with the customer.
- Establish and execute the timeline for the project per the customer requirements.
- Meets and exceeds set project margins. Monitors and reconciles actual project estimates.
- Adheres to the project budget, reports budget issues back to Executive Management. Updates Cost to Complete in company system.
- Communicates to the various divisions (electrical, mechanical) in the company, ensuring their understanding of the tasks.
- Address all customer concerns and requirements.
- Regularly report project progress and status to the customer and internal management.
- Manage open issues list internally and with the customer.
- Manage supplier and sub-contractor relations.
- Participate in all meetings regarding project execution and progress.
- Manage the design, manufacturing, assembly, debug, try-out, run-off, teardown, shipment, installation, start-up, and buyoff for all assigned projects.
- Deliver as-built drawings, manuals, and documentation to the customer.
- Manage customer change orders and update project budgets accordingly.
- Prepare for and lead project review meetings.
- Independently identify, manage, and mitigate project risks, resulting in proactive contingency planning, as required.
- Provide presentations to project stakeholders and management on project status, margin forecast, and lessons learned.
- Responsible for collecting all payments from customers.
Required Education / Skills
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
- 8 years' experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager, managing multiple assembly system projects greater than US $5M
- Experience in automation, assembly, test equipment, design, material handling, and other special machines and systems
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint), AutoCAD is a plus
- Working knowledge of SPC, FMEA, R&M analysis method
- Strong customer relations skills
Travel
- Approximately 20% to client sites
