Sr. Production Technician | Direct Hire

The Production Engineer/Technician is responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of new and improved packaging equipment as needed by understanding production processes and the machinery thoroughly, having the ability to diagnose sources of failure & downtime, and implement the necessary changes to improve efficiency. This position will be responsible for all changes to designs and processes to packaging and bottling to support new products, and different or new packaging components, with the approval of the Director of Technical Operations. This position will act as the primary contact with Equipment Suppliers for remote or on-site support and is responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks to support equipment performance.
Additionally, this position will work with Distribution Center Operations and Logistics on internal processing solutions and improvements; as well as provide technical expertise for internal processes and any additional duties as assigned.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Examines and test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning
- Disassembles broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassemble equipment when repairs are complete
- Supports changeovers and equipment set-up.
- Performs engineering support functions for all dietary supplement packaging lines to include inspection devices both for the packaging line and “Meology” production areas
- Resolves and supports Parata ATP2 Machine issues for the “Meology” department involving sealing, perforations, conveyance jamming, alarms, TC communication alarms, etc.
- Performs product maintenance functions regarding troubleshooting, researching, root cause analysis and correcting product issues. Provides onsite process and technical support for new and ongoing packaging operations, addressing specific product concerns regarding process variation, and test methodology.
- Evaluate processes with the aim of continuous improvement via improved efficiencies, equipment improvements, and/or modifications to control processes.
- Performs statistical analysis on inspection and machine data for recommendations for product and/or process parameters changes, and/or sampling, controls, or process improvements.
- Supports on-site artwork enhancements and implementation
- Sizes products/canisters for product launches for “Meology” department
- Conducts packaging evaluations on current and new components to support implementation.
- Recommends, evaluates, qualifies, and approves new components/canisters.
- Troubleshoots and provides technical expertise for dispensing issues and stays current on new packaging technology.
- Supports Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification for new equipment and ensures equipment meets sanitary design requirements.
- Performs other job-related functions/duties as assigned when business needs require.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- A minimum of four years of combined experience in production, manufacturing or processing
- Must have the ability to successfully run and operate equipment necessary to fabricate components for all packaging, bottling and/or manufacturing equipment, as determined by management.
- Must possess the ability to independently and successfully multi-task in a high-volume work environment, with little to no supervision.
- Must be able to operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment in a safe and acceptable manner, as determined by management.
- Bachelor's degree in production or packaging engineering or related field preferred.
- Must have w o r k i n g knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and other skills necessary to design, build and install packaging equipment as needed to support production.
- Should have hands-on experience being directly involved with specifications, standard operating procedures, root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Must exhibit high level of energy, astute sense of urgency and strong interpersonal skills to work in cooperation with the Operations, QA and R&D teams.
- Should have hands-on working knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing and six sigma concepts and practices.
- Should exhibit a comprehensive knowledge of cGMP requirements for FD&C products.
- Should exhibit a practical understanding of statistical methodology and sampling.
