Process Operator Basic Function:

Maintain high product quality and production rates on all process equipment. Troubleshoot and correct minor electrical, electronic, or mechanical problems affecting process equipment. Assume responsibility for all plant operations and personnel when immediate supervisors are not present. Inspect all rail and truck tank vessels as scheduled. Perform loading and unloading operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Using the process computer system(s), start up, operate, and shut down the process equipment to efficiently produce different grades of product within specifications.
  • Use blueprints, schematics, loop sheets, vendor manuals, etc. to analyze and correct minor electrical, electronic, or mechanical malfunctions of the plant process equipment.
  • Ensure that products are not contaminated due to product grade changes or human error.
  • Obtain and test production samples to determine product quality. Quality samples must be logged into LIMS. If quality problems occur, take immediate corrective action and report the problems to the appropriate supervisor(s).
  • Make thorough mechanical inspection of railcars and tank trucks per “Inspection Form” checklist.
  • Thoroughly inspect for cleanliness, all vessels prior to loading.
  • Check stenciling and placarding requirements of railcars per “Inspection Form” checklist.
  • Load and weigh products per shipping document instructions and record all information and certified weights pertaining to shipments. Vessel must be properly tagged out before leaving premise.
  • Retain samples of products loaded for shipment.
  • Operate and maintain mobile equipment used to move railcars, perform loading, and unloading operations.
  • Must be available to work overtime and accept call-ins with or without prior notice. This position has a high potential to become a rotating shift.
Safety and Housekeeping:
  • Keep work area clean, safe, and in orderly condition.
  • Perform daily safety and mechanical inspections of work area and equipment. Log the results and notify immediate supervisor for corrective action.
  • Enforce all Company safety regulations.
  • Report immediately, any accidents, safety violations, acts of insubordination, thefts, etc. to immediate supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in operating an automated processing plant.
  • Formal education and/or commensurate experience is required.
  • Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs and ladders.
  • Must be able to operate forklifts and overhead cranes, hoists, and other industrial mobile equipment.
Work Schedule:
  • Daytime hours for the foreseeable future would be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of weekend work as the need arises.
  • Depending on how things turn out in the distant future, it could transition to an 8-hour shift (6 a.m. to 2 p.m.), but that's a good while out from becoming a reality.
Compensation:
  • $25 hourly.
