Petroleum Lab Technician (Rotating Shifts) 

Location: Essington, PA 

 

 

Hourly Rate: $28 - $38 per hour (Based on Experience) 

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Petroleum Lab Technician to join our team at our Essington, PA facility. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to advance their career in laboratory testing and inspection services within the petroleum and chemical industries. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform a variety of chemical and physical tests in a laboratory environment following ASTM methods or accepted industry standards. 

  • Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. 

  • Clean glassware and test equipment as necessary. 

  • Record data on appropriate data sheets and report to the LIMS system. 

  • Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories. 

  • Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements. 

  • Participate in cross-training and maintain a flexible attitude towards additional duties as needed. 

Shift Details: 

  • Rotating shifts: 7 AM - 3 PM, 3 PM - 11 PM, 11 PM - 7 AM. Overtime on Sat/Sun 

  • Overtime required as business needs dictate. 

  • One-hour daily lunch/break. 

Qualifications

  • Prior laboratory experience required. 

  • Strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-production environment. 

  • Proficiency in using LIMS applications and established chemistry lab processes. 

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and coordination skills. 

  • Ability to follow both standard and non-standard procedures. 

  • Experience with instrumentation is a plus (e.g., ICP-OES, GC, HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis). 

  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs regularly and stand for prolonged periods. 

  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred. 

  • Experience in the Oil & Gas field. 

  • Instrument troubleshooting experience. 

  • Strong understanding of quality system management. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel).
