Salary is commensurate with years of experience

We focus on developing technology through disciplines like chemistry, physics, materials and polymer science and engineering, and optical, mechanical, computer, electronic, firmware, and software engineering. Summary/Responsibilities:
The Optical Engineer will work on system-level and component-level construction and testing of the optical pickup unit (OPU) for the optical drive needed to read and write data on our multilayer optical films. The candidate will collaborate with external partners and our servo, electrical, system, firmware, and opto-mechanical engineers to develop an advanced, state-of-the-art OPU. These tasks require creativity and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include:

  • Constructing, aligning, and testing the OPU for focusing, tracking, writing, and reading on fluorescence and/or reflective multilayer films.
  • Involving high-precision mechanical infrastructure and motion controls for read/write and focus and tracking servo functions.
  • Collecting, compiling, and presenting data for internal use and to demonstrate disc and disc drive maturation.
  • Developing optical and optomechanical test setups, test protocols, and reports.
  • Displaying good interpersonal skills to work with our cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrating a strong work ethic with a desire to deliver results.
  • Potential management opportunities for qualified candidates.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of optics and optical systems.
  • Experience in construction, alignment, and testing of optical and optomechanical systems.
  • Experience with design software such as Zemax and Code V is helpful but not necessary.
  • Previous experience in problem-solving using statistical methodology is helpful but not necessary.
