Mid-Level Laboratory Technician – Wyandotte MI

Kelly Science and Clinical is currently recruiting for a qualified, full-time, permanent Mid-Level Laboratory Technician for one of our clients in the Wyandotte MI area. The need to fill this position is immediate.

Summary: TheLaboratory Technician will perform quality control and in-process tests of incoming and produced goods, in line with the company's guidelines and product quality standards. This person will ensure the products meet the customer's specifications of quality and process continuity.
Responsibilities:

Quality control and testing:

  • Perform analytical tests within research projects, to accurately assess research results and conclusions
  • Monitor quality trends, timely identify and communicate quality defects, non-conformities, and trends to the Supervisor to ensure preventive measures met R&D studies.
  • Work closely with researchers to develop lab experimental designs and test plans
  • Conduct lab experiments according to the test plan, collates, and reports the test results
  • Develop and validate novel assays together with researchers
Reporting:
  • Accurately record data, observations and conclusions of samples and test results to quality or reporting systems.
Quality Assurance:
  • Check and calibrate analytical instruments according to Laboratory ISO guidelines
  • Propose efficiency and quality improvements
  • Ensure all tests and measurements are performed in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at the laboratory and with the relevant standards such as ISO9001 and ISO17025, contributes to the design and further improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Maintenance:
  • Maintain and sterilize tools and instruments
  • Perform minor/preventative maintenance of faults and application modification.
Supervision and Training:
  • May train and supervise Interns, Apprentices and Junior Laboratory Technicians Skills and Expertise
Qualifications/Education/Skills:                  
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Food science/Food Safety, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Animal Nutrition, or a science related field
  • 3 - 6+ years' lab experience in first-line technical, testing, and analytical support
  • Comprehension of Wet Chemistry Techniques (ex: Titrations, Pipetting)
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and handle hazardous waste
  • Experience with HPLC Instrumentation
  • Intermediate user of MS suite: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Empower Software, LIMS, and Visio are a PLUS!
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production lab, multi-task, and have strong attention to details
Pay: $31-35/hr

Hours: This is a full-time position, M-F, 5AM – 1PMEST – possible flexibility with scheduling. This shift includes a working lunch with breaks and is fully onsite.
