Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Controls Engineer II to join our dynamic engineering team. This role involves designing, engineering, modifying, and supporting both existing and new manufacturing processes to meet essential requirements. The primary focus is to develop programming improvements that ensure optimal machine control, performance, safety, and quality while adhering to industry standards such as NEC, UL, ANSI, OSHA, etc.

As a Manufacturing Controls Engineer II, you will play a critical role in managing electrical controls installations and improvements, working closely with Project Managers to meet budgetary goals and delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a safe work environment by maintaining the facility and understanding industrial processes, systems, and equipment.
  • Designing, engineering, and modifying machines and systems to meet internal or customer-driven specifications.
  • Actively participating in project kickoff meetings and design review processes, brainstorming solutions to meet requirements.
  • Researching and optimizing electromechanical systems on both new and existing machinery.
  • Ensuring machine safety and adherence to applicable standards.
  • Collaborating with service and maintenance personnel to check out machines and provide training.
  • Maintaining records of engineering data for each job, machine, or project.
  • Continuously improving electromechanical systems design and development.
  • Working effectively with other team members in an international environment, as well as with customers, suppliers, and other organizational functions such as sales, purchasing, maintenance, and production.
  • Developing and writing scopes of work for contractors and technicians.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a strong emphasis on programming, industrial controls, or automation.
  • 2+ years of experience in developing or improving industrial systems or processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of automation concepts and improvements.
  • Experience with PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley, Omron) and understanding of electrical schematics.
  • Experience programming HMIs and familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, and Modbus.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with machine safety interlocks, heating controls, variable frequency drives, and control sensors.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, power quality harmonics, and basic computer networking.
  • Solid problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Knowledge of standards such as NFPA 70/70E/79 and UL 508A.
  • Teamwork and cooperation skills in an international and/or cross-functional environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).
