What's a typical day as a Maintenance Technician I. You'll be: 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
• Perform a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks to assist in the daily repair, preventative maintenance and construction of physical plant and expansion projects, including basic carpentry, masonry, electrical, heating/air-conditioning, plumbing, painting, mechanical and floor/wall coating installation.
• Perform scheduled inspections/repairs on all facilities systems.
• Perform supply, delivery, distribution and acquisition tasks as directed.
• May perform waste vacuum maintenance.
• Participate in snow removal and ice remediation activities such as shoveling and spreading de-icing agents on walkways and parking lots, where site weather conditions necessitate.
• Assist in moving office contents within site, including furniture, files, etc. as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance repairs and services.
• Respond to emergencies as needed. Provide 24-hour on-call maintenance coverage, as scheduled in rotation.
• Take proper safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety gear/equipment in the performance of all duties.
• May provide guidance to less experienced/skilled utility workers.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.
 
This job might be an outstanding fit if you have: 
• Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)
• Experience: One to two years' experience in general building maintenance with mechanical and construction background.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
• Certification/Licensure: None.
• Other: Must be able to understand and follow verbal directions.
