Overview
Hands-on completion of laboratory analysis of incoming raw materials, in-process samples, and final batch samples in support of a manufacturing and technology and innovation (R&D Environment).  Operation of injection molding equipment to prepare test specimens. Other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for reading and complying with the Company's Environmental and Quality Policies. This position is also responsible for reporting to management deviations from the policy when they are observed.
Responsibilities

  • This independent contributor role consists of, but is not limited to:
  • Hands on completion of analysis of in- process and final batch test results in support of manufacturing: MV, ASH, MFR/MVR, Adhesion, Melt Viscosity, Ash %, Melt Flow Rate, Melt Volume Rate, Volatile, Visual Color. 
  • As decisions and actions are based on lab results, this position requires diligent detail in following lab procedures, record keeping and documentation, and accurate calculations and reporting.
  • This role will require the successful candidate to communicate with various departments (operations, technical)
  • Lab is 24/7 - Day shift hours are 5am-3pm, 7am-5pm, or 9am-7pm. Night shifts are 5pm-3am, 7pm-5am, or 9pm-7am. 
  • Four 10 hour shifts on a rotating schedule: 2 weeks: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 2 weeks: Mon, Tue, Sat. Sun
  • Assigned hours and shift based on lab needs.
  • Overtime based on lab need
Qualifications
  • The candidate must achieve an acceptable score on a basic math test that includes calculating percentages, averages, unit conversions and performing rounding.
  • The candidate must demonstrate minimum color aptitude by scoring a 50 or lower using the Farnsworth-Munsell Hue Test. Laboratory Management will also assess results screening for color deficiencies as outlined in the FM-100 test method. Candidates may be permitted one re-test.
  • Candidates must be able to lift 55 pounds.
  • Dependable transportation, excellent attendance and timeliness are required
  • Accurate thorough documentation and lab records are imperative
  • Ability to multitask (manage multiple simultaneous samples in organized high quality environment) is required.
  • Some lab experience. Ability to follow lab work instructions.
  • Strong commitment to safety and working safely.
  • Self motivated individual with strong output of accurate results
