What's a typical day as a Lab/Production Technician I You will focus on one of the following areas. You may be cross-trained in the future so that you may work in any area:
In surfacing, you may work as:
- A Machine Operator, preparing and operating the automated machines in the surfacing process (tapers, generators, polishers, laser engravers, deblockers, detapers, spin coaters).
In the coating area, you may work as:
- A Lens Washer, conducting a brief cosmetic inspection, loading lenses into a basket for ultra-sonic cleaning, unloading lenses from baskets and placing into a tray. Hand washing lenses as needed.
- A Sandblaster, operating a sandblasting machine gun to clean the surface of the coating equipment.
In finishing, you may work as:
- Matchup, matching lenses coming off the surfacing production line with the respective frame to begin the finishing process.
- A Tinter, accurately tinting lenses.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- High mechanical aptitude.
- 1+ years of related work experience, such as in manufacturing; experience in lab settings is preferred but not required.
- The ability to meet measurable standards in a dynamic production environment. Depth perception and manual dexterity.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Attention to detail.
