Cytology Technician
A global diagnostic testing laboratory is seeking a Cytology Technician for North Austin facility. The Cytology Technician primary responsibility is to assist pre- analytical processes associated with specimen processing under the supervision and guidance of certified individuals in the clinical laboratory.
This may include processing Cytology Non- Gynecological specimens, including, but not limited to data- entry, labeling, staining, coverslipping, maintaining lab organization and cleanliness, operation and maintenance of equipment, and adhering to quality control and quality assurance procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Multi-task efficiently and maintain flexibility in processing samples across multiple workflows.
- Ensure adherence to turnaround times and productivity goals while working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Identify specimen processing issues that may impact analytical or post-analytical activities.
- Immediately notify supervisors of any problems to maintain quality and compliance.
- Create sample batches and triage samples for automated processors.
- Assist in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control activities following lab policies and procedures.
- Prepare and store reagents as needed.
- Follow detailed instructions and adhere strictly to established procedures.
- Perform all duties in accordance with compliance regulations and quality system guidelines.
- Maintain laboratory supplies and materials inventory.
- Complete administrative duties, including copying, filing, and data entry.
- Assist in research and validation activities to support laboratory advancements.
- Take ownership and accountability for delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform site-specific or lab-specific tasks as assigned.
- Understands and adheres to internal and external regulatory standards.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adapt to procedural changes.
- Strong organizational skills, with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Compliance with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/equivalent
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 1 or more years of experience in a laboratory setting
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of LIMS
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- The ability to navigate efficiently through, or have familiarity with, various laboratory information systems (LIS) and have proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)
- Tuesday-Saturday; 9:00am-5:30 pm
- Temp-to-Hire
- $24-$27 DOE
