Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Associate R&D Technologist for a Long Term Contract opportunity in Midland, MI.
In this role you will perform routine assignments (from sample preparation to testing) in the lab. You will provide project specific testing support as established in standardized testing methods and/or as outlined by the researcher. Candidate will be part of the team providing testing service, data reporting, and share in lab maintenance activities. The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate their work and results.
Qualifications:
• BS in Chemistry or related field (or pursuing one)
• Basic knowledge of chemicals and comfortable working with them
• Pays attention to working safely
• Motivated to learn and apply new skills
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Must have strong multi-tasking, time management and organization skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Fluency in English language
• Spreadsheet and word processing skills (MS Office)
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to lift upto 30-40 lbs
• Prior experience in a laboratory (preferred not necessary)
Responsibilities:
1. Share in lab housekeeping, facility organization, and equipment maintenance activities. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the lab.
2. Learn various aspects of the job quickly- sample preparation, testing methods, data reporting and assessment protocols, etc.
3. Make formulations by mixing, batching and sampling chemicals in a lab setting. Learn how to safely use all the equipment for performing these tasks.
4. Learn and run small scale flammability testing, small scale polymer processing equipment (such as blending, extruding, molding) and some standard analytical testing (TGA/ FTIR/ DSC/ etc.)
5. Collect and compile data from tests. Able to check data and flag noteworthy patterns or observations to researcher.
6. Generate data reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.
