Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Billing Manager, the Accounts Receivable Processor is responsible for billing, collection, and reconciliation of group and individual premiums. This role also involves administering COBRA services in compliance with current laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a customer-focused approach to resolving billing and payment issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- **COBRA Administration:**
- Interpret and apply complex COBRA regulations for groups, providing support on compliance.
- Process enrollments, eligibility updates, cash receipts, notifications, and refunds accurately and timely.
- Ensure synchronization of Travis COBRA and LED eligibility.
- **Premium Collection:**
- Collect delinquent premiums from employer groups with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Monitor payments, prepare collection letters, and advise on potential consequences of non-payment.
- Notify management of accounts at risk.
- **Customer Service:**
- Provide internal and external customer support with a thorough understanding of billing, COBRA, eligibility, and contracts.
- Actively listen, interpret customer needs, and resolve issues promptly.
- Process Individual Dental Plan (IDP) credit card transactions over the phone.
- **Payment Reconciliation:**
- Monitor group payments using various records to ensure accurate billing and eligibility.
- Conduct research and collaborate with internal departments to resolve payment discrepancies.
- **Administrative Duties:**
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, including COBRA and IDP notifications and group invoices.
- Promote and assist group administrators with online services, providing feedback on system issues.
- File and scan documents for electronic records retention.
- Identify opportunities to enhance departmental efficiency and the value of company products.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Certificate in Accounting from a business school/college, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or Accounting.
- Previous customer service experience is preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to define problems, collect data, and solve complex issues.
- Comprehensive understanding of COBRA regulations and related company policies.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and in compliance with federal and state laws (e.g., HIPAA).
- Proficiency in PC applications, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
