ACCESS Coordinator
Location: Southfield, MI
Shift: Monday- Thursday (8:30am - 3:30pm)
Compensation: $21.63 /hour
Temp-to-Hire
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE:
Manages support staff including delivery of tutoring services, accommodations, adaptive equipment needs and department resource materials and information. Maintains, clarifies and updates communication on the implementation and compliance with ACCESS services and procedures. Provide intervention and resolution of matters pertaining to tutoring students and staff concerns. Reports to the ACCESS Coordinator.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
This description is intended to indicate the types of duties and responsibilities requested of the employee assigned this title. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all the duties and responsibilities that may be required.
1. Identify, recruit, and train support staff (e.g. interpreters, readers, scribes, tutors, etc.). Provide orientation and evaluation of support staff.
2. Oversee and maintain support staff work schedules.
3. Provide coverage for support staff services (e.g. tutors, readers, etc.), as needed.
4. Conduct student intake interviews to determine appropriate tutoring services needed.
5. Maintain documentation of activities of support staff, including the support staff database.
6. Maintain scheduled contact with students and support staff and document these activities.
7. Assist with classroom visitations and college orientations.
8. Follow-up on maintenance requests (i.e. assistive devices, specific furniture needs, etc.).
9. Maintain assistive software/hardware inventories in a database. Provide training on assistive technology, as needed.
10. Assist ACCESS Coordinator in conducting workshops and seminars.
11. Update and maintain ACCESS resource materials.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of academic discipline practices
Knowledge of A.C.C.E.S.S. Department
Skill in working with diverse populations
Skill in written and verbal communication
Knowledge in computer technology and familiarity with adaptive equipment
Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles
Organizational skills
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to work as a team player in a multi-cultural diverse working environment
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor¿s degree; or an Associate degree with five (5) years experience working with adult disabilities.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities (e.g. tutoring, instructing, etc.). Experience with grant funded projects preferred. Experience with multi-cultural students and staff preferred.
