Our Workers' Compensation Manager is accountable for:
- Overseeing workers' compensation processes, ensuring adherence to statutes, regulations, and Kelly-specific service instructions while managing TPA and field operations compliance
- Expediting claim closures by collaborating with TPA adjusters and defense attorneys to determine effective strategies for settlement, trial, or resolution
- Selecting, negotiating, and managing external defense counsel to align with Kelly's litigation management strategies, ensuring optimal legal representation and cost efficiency
- Monitoring and ensuring appropriate financial reserves on claims, leveraging expertise in state-specific regulations, exposure estimates, diagnosis, and treatment plans
- Providing subject matter expertise and training on workers' compensation processes, while driving process improvements and ensuring adherence to legal compliance and best practices across Kelly business units
- Building relationships with operations, leadership, and corporate functions, identifying opportunities to enhance client satisfaction and service quality, managing workers' compensation chargebacks, and supporting cost management initiatives
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in business or insurance designations a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to a high-quality work ethic, with an ability to hold oneself accountable for specific outcomes
- Clear, concise communication, presentation, and documentation skills
Seeking 10+ years of work experience in Workers' Compensation claims adjusting, with at least 5 years handling complex or litigated claims. Candidates must have working knowledge of state workers' compensation statutes within at least one jurisdiction (multiple jurisdictions preferred), along with experience in claim valuations, reserving for estimated ultimate costs. Candidates need have negotiated settlements and dispositions of serious claims, including interpreting medical terminology/documentation.
