The Accounting Fixed Asset Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the tracking of capital expenditure (capex) projects across various hospital entities within the USC Health System. This role will be responsible for project and financial spending tracking, monthly reporting, compliance and documentation, and process improvement.

Essential Duties:

  • Capex Project Tracking: • Collaborate with project managers, finance teams, and department heads to track and monitor capex projects spread across multiple hospital entities. • Maintain a comprehensive database of all capex projects, including project details, budgets, and key financial metrics.
  • Financial Spend Tracking: • Monitor the financial spend associated with each capex project, ensuring that expenditures are in line with approved budgets. • Regularly review and reconcile financial data to accounting records (general ledger), identifying any discrepancies or issues, and taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Asset Capitalization: • Ensure that all eligible capex expenditures are properly and timely capitalized and recorded in GL in compliance with accounting standards. • Coordinate with accounting staff to accurately report capital assets on the financial statements.
  • Monthly Reporting: • Prepare and present regular reports on the financial status and progress of capex projects to senior management and relevant stakeholders. • Analyze variances and provide recommendations to improve financial performance and project efficiency. • Prepare fixed assets roll forward and reconciliation to GL.
  • Closing Capex Projects: • Oversee the process of closing completed capex projects, including finalizing all financial transactions, updating asset registers, and conducting post-project evaluations.
  • Compliance and Documentation: • Ensure that all financial records and documentation related to capex projects are maintained in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements. • Assist with internal and external audits related to fixed assets and capital projects.
  • Process Improvement: • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in capex project tracking and accounting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Bachelor's degree Accounting, Finance, or other related field
  • Req 5 years Accounting and Financial Management, with a focus on fixed assets or capital expenditure projects
  • Req Deep understanding of capitalization accounting principles and financial management
  • Req Strong knowledge of capitalization accounting principles, financial analysis, and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Req Proficiency in Ms. Office, accounting software, and financial management systems.
  • Req Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Req Strong attention to detail, keen eye for precision and the ability to work with complex financial data.
  • Req Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref 2 years Leadership experience in Finance
  • Pref Knowledge of healthcare finance and experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Pref Certified Public Accountant - CPA CPA or relevant professional certification.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $95,680.00 - $158,230.00.
