Kamehameha Schools is currently looking for a Sr. Manager of Financial Aid & Scholarships for Pre K - 12.
Our ideal candidate will be well versed in the Pre K – 12 financial aid space (processing through awarding) and have the following experience:
- Solid foundation in Pre K – 12, or K – 12 financial aid best practices with an understanding of how to support changing needs of different campuses.
- Data driven, with experience in developing and/or monitoring industry standard metrics.
- Prior experience managing & developing staff.
This is an on-site position based out of our Kawaiaha'o Plaza location.
Our targeted salary range will be $113,000 - 126,000 depending on experience level.
No relocation assistance is available.
Job Summary:
Creates and manages multiple program processes administration. Develops, reviews, implements and maintains procedures to assist applicant families with accurate and efficient application completion and support documentation compilation. Collaboratively reviews program processes and required forms to improve application completion rates and overall program awarding. Works with Quality Assurance function to monitor and make continuous improvements to the process. Determines appropriate community supports such as workshops and informational sessions with programs, business partners, and regional offices. Provides timely and detailed communications to various support operations. Manages systems work activities to support program statistical and operational uploads/downloads, data validations, and reporting. Responsible for directing the efforts of staff to include effectively managing performance, facilitating work efforts, and providing leadership, guidance, training, and coaching.
Essential Responsibilities:
Program Execution
Manages the planning and implementation of multiple program processes to ensure accurate, complete and timely processing of all applications. This includes proper documentation of processes with internal controls, alignment with policy and procedures, and implementing process changes to improve application completion rates, overall program accuracy, and eligibility to enhance the constituent experience.
Leadership
Supervises processing teams to enhance performance through development, training, creative problem solving and prioritization. Ensures overall metrics for program volume and quality are met.
Risk Management
Ensures interactions with families, constituents, and business partners are responsive, supportive, and within legal guidelines to mitigate identified risk areas. Communicates potential issues to leadership for escalation.
Data &Technology
Utilizes multiple systems and technologies to manage processing activities and analyze data, ensuring timely and accurate responses to applicant and leadership inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a directly related field executing secondary or post-secondary financial aid programs and processes to support student success and family engagement.
- Minimum 3 years' experience leading and overseeing a team to meet organizational goals, execute comprehensive strategic plans while championing processes to build an impactful customer service experience.
- Strong analytical skills to prepare, analyze and comprehend financial statements, reports and spreadsheets. Will review data frequently and draw conclusions or summaries.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and handle complex, multiple, simultaneous projects and meet established timelines and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to delegate and remain cognizant of assigned task and outcomes.
- Ability to understand processes and identify common cause effect impacting a process and implement process improvements. Able to initiate business process reengineering/improvement efforts and change management processes and implementation of these solutions. Strong logic to be able to walk through various concepts.
- Ability to facilitate complex confidential discussions with internal stakeholders and constituents.
- Ability to analyze and conceptualize, and to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and with highly confidential information.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to work effectively with management and staff at various levels in the organization as part of a technical team.
- Exceptional communications skills to work with indigent families by explaining complex processes and requirements.
- Must be able to facilitate group meeting and demonstrate the ability to drive to consensus.
- Ability to be flexible, learn new systems and processes as required.
- Solid understanding of and appreciation for local cultures.
- Knowledge of processes and internal controls in a business environment and experience with business process reengineering and change management projects. Ability to implement a change management program.
- Supervisory Experience to include the ability to provide career and skill guidance to staff to increase performance in job.
- Ability to create exception reports, status reports and other management reporting devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the mission and values of KS.
- Proficiency in MS Office products.
- Experience and knowledge in public accounting or private industry.
- Experience with secured document handling and disposal.
- Experience in conducting (speaking) public meetings.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Frequently sit, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but may be conducted in evenings and weekends, as necessary.
