Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus is looking for an Operations Utility Worker to join their team! This is an on-call position to help with event set-up/break down and special projects.Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs a large variety of unskilled and semi-skilled operational support tasks (interior and exterior) requiring a degree of physical exertion. General descriptions of types of work are custodial, ground maintenance or building maintenance. Will be assigned to set up and break down special events. Must be able to work various shifts and overtime when necessary and without supervision.
Essential Responsibilities
- Performs custodial duties to include but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mopping, disinfecting, polishing, cleaning, and vacuuming.
- Cleans a variety of appliances, surfaces, fixtures, etc. using a variety of cleaning agents and tools.
- Performs ground maintenance to include but not limited to trimming, cutting, mowing, planting, fertilizing, weeding, spraying, watering, digging, and shoveling.
- Performs building repairs to include but not limited to painting, scraping, cleaning, window cleaning, pressure washing, and fixture repairs.
- Performs campus operations duties to include moving, loading, event set up, and carrying various supplies, structures, and tools for various functions.
- Reports repair and maintenance needs for equipment, supplies, and facilities in work area.
- Secures work area when leaving the worksite.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- Less than High School.
- Minimum 6 months of related work experience.
- Working knowledge of proper use and maintenance of tools used in working with plants and ground cover.
- Working knowledge of the application of common fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
- Working knowledge of the use of tools associated with janitorial work.
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions and simple sketches.
- Work independently with little or no immediate supervision.
- Operate power tools associated with grounds keeping, custodial, or building maintenance.
- Stand on feet for long periods of time.
- Use ladders and scaffolds for cleaning and maintenance.
- Work in a group/team environment.
- Work in, repair, and clean multiple work areas within established time frame.
- Work various shifts.
- Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to work in an environment with children and staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver's license
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Occasionally sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Frequently stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp firmly.
Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment including outdoors and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work schedules varies but evening and weekend/holiday hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
