Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus is looking for a Regular, Part-Time Cook to join their team. This position will work 20 hours/week, 4 hours/day, Monday - Friday and will receive full employee benefits.Job Summary
Entry level food service position responsible for general cleaning, washing, dish washing, loading/unloading, cafeteria and serving line set up, and prep assistance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepares and maintains cleanliness of dish room and related equipment; cleans and stores dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other equipment at each meal.
- Maintains and logs temperatures of food, dish machines, hot and cold holding equipment, walk-ins, refrigerators, freezers, coolers, serving lines, etc. in compliance with Dept. of Health food safety standards.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchen appliances and equipment. Maintains, cleans and sanitizes all prep areas.
- Assist Cooks with the preparation of food items according to recipes or normal culinary procedures as directed for meals and special functions. Assists with inventory control procedures such as receiving and storing of product in designated areas.
- Sets up and services hot food stations and milk dispensers for each meal; assists in informing cooks when hot and cold food line supplies are running low; maintains neatness of hot food station areas.
- Transports, loads and unloads supplies, equipment and staff, as needed.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain the National Food Safety and Sanitation Certification within the first two weeks of start date.
- Willingness to drive or learn how to drive a large food service transporting vehicle safely, operate an electric gate lift, and load, secure, and unload food and equipment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends.
- Ability to follow directions and work independently as needed.
- Ability to work cohesively within a team to meet production and service standards.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Frequently stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry items up to 50 pounds; push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 300 pounds.
- Occasionally twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and reach for supplies and equipment.
Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)
- Work is conducted in close proximity to hot equipment in humid surroundings.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required for special events.
