Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus seeks an Art Curriculum Developer, with a focus on Hawaiian Culture-Based Education, to support our Halau Kapikohaniamalama summer program. This is a temporary position that will work between June and July 2025.
Job Summary
The Curriculum Developer is responsible for curriculum adaptation and development of courses for Hawaiian learners. Designs, develops, implements and assesses education curriculum & relevant materials. Translates evaluation findings into curriculum strategies and program modifications. Works in a collaborative environment with Kamehameha Schools faculty, staff, and others.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develops an array of multidisciplinary curriculum materials for PK - 12 audiences that apply content to address learner outcomes outlined in the Common Core State Standards, in alignment with guidelines, essential questions, and guiding questions provided.
- Apply and use current instructional design principles to adapt and develop curriculum for teaching. This includes: researching, developing, preparing, and adapting instructional materials (multimedia presentations, handouts, readings, quizzes, tests, etc.).
- Advises and provides consultation and technical assistance to program staff on all aspects of program development and implementation.
- Designs evaluation process to assess the effectiveness of courses.
- Acts as liaison with other agencies on related aspects of the program.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a directly related field.
- Demonstrated basic competence with computers and a basic suite of desktop applications (word processing, presentation, spreadsheet), email, Web browsing.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Background in K-12 instruction and curriculum development experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity and experience with Kamehameha Schools courses and Hawaiian cultural and/or educational programming.
- A can do attitude, demonstrated by recent accomplishments.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
- Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
- This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
- Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required especially for the boarding community (e.g. dormitory visits, chapel on Sunday mornings) to meet goals and objectives.
