Description

Job Summary:
Develops, organizes and directs the work flow of newly hired eye care staff. Oversees the training and skill assessments ensuring that staff meet or exceed clinical quality and safety standards. Complies with KP standards and JCAHPO requirements to obtain the title of COA.
Essential Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement 12-week training program.

  • Train and mentor new hires through the 12-week process.

  • Integrate with Residency program to standardize training process flow.

  • Collaborate with providers for updates to training based on new technologies, etc.

  • Develop and Implement assessments at all three skill levels.

  • Train staff to include sign offs at each of the skill levels.

  • Collaborate with providers to develop training expectations.

  • Facilitate all assessments in collaboration with clinical managers.

  • Provide expertise and mentorship to all staff members needing stronger training at various levels.

  • Plan, organize and schedule all staff education days. Prepare speakers, workshops, lecture.

  • Provide all presentation and education materials.

  • Work with JCHHPO National Organization to provide for mandatory credit requirements.


Basic Qualifications: Experience

  • Minimum (1) one year of experience in Kaiser Permanente Eye Care Services OR (5) five years of experience as in training within eye care industry.

Education
  • High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire OR Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) required at hire
  • Ophthalmic Technician Certificate within 12 months of hire OR Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate within 12 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support required at hire

  • Trainer/teaching experience.
  • Bachelors degree.
