Job Summary:
This position exists to meet the needs of the Regional Dialysis Service in both a clinical and technical capacity. This service extends to both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patient populations.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Provide technical support to Dialysis services and staff including routine maintenance of all equipment, trouble- shooting and repair of equipment as needed. Maintains quality control program for equipment including microbiological and infection control programs, maintains equipment inventory.

  • Provides clinical support to Dialysis staff under supervision of RN staff including patient assessment, initiating and discontinuing dialysis treatments.

  • Coordinates all purchasing and order activities of Dialysis supplies.

  • Provides technical expertise in development and implementation of Dialysis policies and procedures.

  • Maintains patient information and procedure statistics for Dialysis Services.

  • Acts as a technical and clinical resource to medical center nursing and provider staff; includes teaching activities.

  • Obtains and administers lidocaine, heparin bolus and normal saline in preparation for dialysis access.

  • Connects dialysis access to Normal Saline or Heparinized Normal Saline.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years experience in an acute or chronic dialysis setting in all aspects of dialysis care, both technical and clinical, or internal Kaiser Permanente Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) that has been trained and certified in dialysis.


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.


License, Certification, Registration

  • Hemodialysis Technician Certificate (Oregon)



  • Basic Life Support


Additional Requirements:

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of dialysis equipment use, maintenance and repair including dialysis and water purification systems.

  • Thorough knowledge of dialysis treatments in relationship to various renal disease states.

  • Working knowledge of microbiological principles as applied to dialysis.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA Standards relating to dialysis practice and thorough knowledge relating to AAMI Standards for dialysis.

  • Ability to initiate and discontinue dialysis, monitors treatment procedure, and reports patient hemodynamic and fluid and electrolyte status.

  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot all equipment.

  • Ability to perform quality control studies.

  • Ability to draft technical procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years experience in acute or chronic dialysis setting.

  • Ability to perform citrate dialysis and continuous arterio-venous hemofiltration.



Notes:


Availability: At least three (3) shifts per pay period and two (2) weekend shifts per month; One (1) major holiday and day before or after holiday
