PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

  • This position will join Iowa Select Farms' recruiting team in their efforts to fill the staffing needs of the company through effective and efficient strategies. This includes but is not limited to performing candidate screenings, connecting with applicants through phone, email, or recruitment platforms, utilizing social media strategies to effectively post ads for open positions, designing creative content, and occasional travel to career fairs and other on-site job events. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Making calls throughout day to reach candidates that have expressed interest in our available positions.
  • Screening of potential candidates and ability to identify talent and potential, any red-flags, and other necessary items included in an application. 
  • Staying current on our openings, specifically locations with higher needs, to prioritize calls and emails to potential applicants. 
  • Collaborating with recruitment team to identify and update processes and strategies as needed to remain competitive in recruitment efforts. 
  • Understanding of all positions within Iowa Select Farms to communicate key responsibilities of each role to potential employees.
  • Partnering with recruitment platform representatives through routine calls to discuss updates on strategies, priorities, and budgeting.
  • Identifying and attending career days, job fairs, and other potential events in locations where we have farms, sites, and openings. 
  • Ability to think outside the box by identifying ways to improve effectiveness and efficiencies – analyzing ad performance data, researching new platforms, creating new content, identifying new audiences, etc., and bringing those ideas forward to supervisor
  • Corresponding with applicants regarding the status of their application while answering any additional questions.  
  • Collaborating with hiring managers and Human Resources by providing updates on leads and prospects until position is successfully filled. 
  • Assisting with job postings and advertisement processes which requires the ability to navigate to different recruiting platforms
  • Helping with preparation, education, and execution of summer internship program 
  • Promptly communicating messages, updates, and other necessary information with supervisor and team is required and essential to success in this role

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is performed indoors.
  • This job operates in an office that is climate controlled and includes hazards typical to that environment 
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

PHYSICALITY REQUIREMENTS

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear.  
  • Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.          
  • The employee must have the ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a part time position
  • Part time hours cannot exceed an average of 30 hours per week over year's timeframe 
  • The scheduling and hours of a part time employee are determined based off employee availability along with farm/department needs 
  • Additional availability may be required during staffing challenges 

 

TRAVEL

  • Might include occasional travel

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required 
  • 1+ years' experience in Human Resources/Recruiting or related field preferred 
  • Agricultural background and/or knowledge of Industry is preferred 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Customer service and/or outgoing call experience preferred
  • Available to consistently work 25-30 hours a week 
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred
  • Soft-Skill Qualifications
    • Able to articulate well and communicate to a variety of audiences.
    • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to network and build relationships
    • Shows strong personal initiative, problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to work independently and as teammate.
    •  Demonstrates attention to detail, strong organizational skills enabling them to follow timelines and meet deadlines.
