Technical Analyst - HAZLOC, Edmonton, AB.

Intertek's Electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification for a variety of electric products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission and distribution. Our dedicated professionals help ensure the quality, safety, and sustainability of electrical products used by people throughout the world.

What are we looking for?

The Technical Analyst position is responsible for performing evaluations on electronic and industrial equipment, preparing technical reports and performing testing.

What you'll do:

  • Evaluate the conformance of equipment against published standards (CSA, UL, IEC, etc.)
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Extract and compile engineering data.
  • Prepare project files for compliance with operating procedures.
  • Make recommendations regarding technical decisions relating to the interpretation of standards.
  • Communicate with clients and management.
  • Obtain and record test data in accordance with standards.
  • Analyze test data and performing calculations.
  • Perform other work as required.
  • Carrying out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with total adherence to: The Company's Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures, Quality Management System, Compliance and Ethics Policies, Vision, Mission and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Technology; Electrical engineering degree will be considered
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in both verbal and written formats.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Microsoft Office expertise.
  • Travel up to 25% as business dictates.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required.

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications

  • 1+ year directly related experience.

Core Competencies

  • The candidate should be detail oriented and able to work through detailed schematics and component specifications.
  • Ability to utilize basic electrical test equipment to setup and perform tests.
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to apply engineering concepts and standard requirements to physical product evaluation.
  • Ability to project manage unsupervised (plan, manage, communicate, complete)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Relentless learner.
