What you will do 

In this position you will be part of Core Infrastructure Engineering team, responsible for the support, installation, and configuration of the Core Infrastructure Services for Intelsat's Service provider network in alignment to the business drivers for revenue generating products and services. This group will engineer, implement, and monitor security measures for the protection of IntelsatOne Core Network infrastructure. The team will also establish and maintain the  framework and policies of the IntelsatOne Core Infrastructure. This team will closely align with other groups in the organization including Planning, Deployment, IT, Innovation, CSE and Product Marketing groups. In cooperation with IT, NRE and NSE team, this position will also assist in development of service templates by providing configuration templates. 

 

 Your required experience/skills

  • Installing, configuring, and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, routing protocols etc.
  • Maximize network availability and performance by monitoring, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
  • Performing maintenance of the network infrastructure which involves testing, upgrades and deployment of Fiber, IP and associated infrastructure elements in various POPs and Teleports.
  • Implement policies and procedures required to sustain internal engineering needs and projects.
  • Providing operational support for Intelsat Managed Services network to include IP/MPLS core/backbone and fiber network infrastructure and associated technologies.
  • Participating in regular one-week long on-call rotation to support the core network.
  • Working with different Engineering groups to help deployment of new products along with how to integrate them into the existing managed services product suite.

Your success in this role will look like:

  • Supporting large scale ground infrastructure programs of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Supporting LAB evaluation of new technologies and their deployment in production
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Managing the documentation for IntelsatOne Service provider including topologies, Architecture design etc.

     

It would be nice if you had: 

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline with at least six months experience in a service provider environment (or an equivalent amount of education and work experience).
  • Entry level network certifications like Network + or CompTIA
  • Knowledge of network security and networking technologies, systems, and network monitoring tools as part of academic education.
