Description

Ingram Content Group (ICG)is hiring for a Desktop Engineer for our Information Technology Team in LaVergne, TN.

This individual will manage and maintain standard workstation configurations for both Windows and macOS environments, to include image management, software packaging, OS deployment, patch management, endpoint security, group policy management, advanced troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and asset management. Ensures compliance, develops automation scripts, provides user training, collaborates with IT teams, participates in incident and problem management, vendor liaison, leading IT projects, enforcing configuration policies, and capacity planning. Stays updated on technology trends and continuously improves knowledge base.

The ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications: 

  • Associate's degree in computer science or related field or directly related year for year experience 
  • 1+ years' experience as a Desktop Engineer or equivalent role required  

We have a preference for: 

  • In-depth experience with Windows and macOS desktop operating systems.
  • Proficiency in OS deployment, patch management, and group policy management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer.
  • Experience with software packaging and distribution tools like Kaseya VSA, Jamf, ManageEngine, Ivanti, and InTune.
  • Proficiency in automation scripting using PowerShell, Bash, zsh, and AppleScript.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security solutions including antivirus, anti-malware, and encryption tools.

The Desktop Engineer key responsibilities are: 

  • Design and Implement Workstation Standards: Develop and maintain standard workstation configurations for both Windows and macOS environments, including hardware specifications, software installations, and security settings.
  • Image Management: Create, test, deploy, and manage desktop and laptop images for both Windows and macOS to ensure consistency across the enterprise.
  • Software Packaging and Distribution: Package applications for deployment using RMM tools such as Kaseya VSA, or Jamf, and manage software distribution across Windows and macOS platforms.
  • Operating System Deployment: Plan, test, and deploy new operating systems, ensuring compatibility with enterprise applications and hardware for both Windows and macOS.
  • Patch Management: Regularly apply security patches and updates to operating systems and applications on both Windows and macOS to maintain compliance and security.
  • Endpoint Security: Collaborate with IT Security to implement and manage endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, anti-malware, and encryption tools, for both Windows and macOS devices. Provide rapid response to critical vulnerabilities.
  • Group Policy Management: Design, implement, and maintain Group Policies for Windows and configuration profiles for macOS to enforce security settings, deploy software, and manage user environments across the enterprise.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting and Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues on Windows and macOS desktops and laptops.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor desktop performance on both Windows and macOS and make adjustments to improve user experience and system efficiency.
  • Asset Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of all Windows and macOS desktop and laptop hardware, including tracking of assets through their lifecycle.
  • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure Windows and macOS desktops and laptops comply with corporate policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop scripts and automation tools using PowerShell, Bash, zsh, and AppleScript to streamline desktop management tasks, such as deployment, patching, and monitoring, for both Windows and macOS environments.
  • User Training and Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for end-users and IT staff and provide training on new systems and processes for both Windows and macOS platforms.
  • Collaboration with Other IT Teams: Work closely with other IT teams, including desktop support, IT help desk, network, security, server, and application teams to ensure seamless integration and support of enterprise systems across Windows and macOS.
  • Incident and Problem Management: Participate in incident and problem management processes, identifying root causes and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence for both Windows and macOS issues.
  • Vendor Management: Liaise with hardware and software vendors to resolve issues, assist with negotiating contracts, and evaluate new products for both Windows and macOS environments.
  • Project Management: Lead or participate in IT projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business objectives across both Windows and macOS platforms.
  • Configuration Management: Maintain and enforce desktop configuration management policies, ensuring consistency and reliability across Windows and macOS environments.
  • Capacity Planning: Assess current and future desktop hardware and software needs, making recommendations for upgrades and replacements as necessary for both Windows and macOS.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest technology trends and best practices, continuously seeking ways to improve desktop management processes and user satisfaction for both Windows and macOS users.

Other Duties 

  • Participates in project work and collaborates with other IT teams as needed 
  • Provides Tier 3 support and troubleshooting for escalated issues 
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation
