Position Description: The Regional Transportation Safety Manager is a key leader in ensuring our organization's adherence to transportation, health, and safety regulations. This role involves developing and implementing safety programs, monitoring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and local regulations, and driving a proactive safety culture. Partnering with leadership, you will utilize data-driven strategies to minimize risks, improve performance, and maintain a safe and efficient transportation operation. Position Location: This position is a fully on-site role from our Scranton, PA location. Relocation: This position does not have relocation assistance available. Travel: This role requires up to 25% travel to our sites within PA and Rotterdam, NY areas. Most of the travel will be day trips with the occasional need for an overnight trip on a quarterly basis. Compensation: Attractive annual salary range of $100,000-$110,000 plus a performance-based yearly bonus potential, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and more. Key Responsibilities: * Regulatory Compliance * Define, develop, and implement programs to ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and local regulations, as well as company standards. * Maintain records to comply with Local, State, and Federal laws and company policies. * Monitor CSA BASIC scores to identify trends and drive performance improvements. * Design and conduct quarterly audits for compliance and continuous improvement. * Stay updated on regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments. * Safety Programs & Training * Design and maintain policies and procedures to ensure workplace safety and compliance. * Develop, lead, and implement employee safety initiatives and training programs, including driver safety and risk training. * Oversee the yard jockey training program. * Develop a driver ride-along program. * Conduct driver evaluations to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations. * Data Management & Analysis * Track health, safety, and performance metrics; analyze data to identify risk mitigation opportunities. * Use safety technology tools to analyze trends and develop preventive action plans. * Prepare bi-monthly safety reports for leadership, providing analytics and actionable insights. * Incident Management * Investigate and report all accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents. * Conduct root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions. * Partner with the Legal department to manage claims and ensure accurate documentation. * Maintain the DOT accident log and manage all DOT and motorist complaints. * Monitor driver hour of service records. * Manage driver accident and log violation progressive disciplinary actions. * Coordinate onsite fuel tank and pump repairs as needed. * Leadership & Collaboration * Partner with the VP of Transportation on facility, security, and equipment issues. * Coach and mentor operations leadership on safety management practices and accountability. * Organize and lead safety events, such as driver safety breakfasts. * Program Oversight * Manage DOT drug and alcohol testing programs and DOT Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse reporting. * Complete oversight of driver qualification files for compliance. * Oversee and management of transportation ELD and camera system programs, including installation and maintenance. Minimum Requirements: * 5+ years of transportation fleet safety experience (DOT, OSHA). * Bachelor’s degree in safety, Logistics, or Supply Chain or equivalent education plus work experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. * In-depth knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Regulations and OSHA standards. * Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. * Ability to multitask and work independently or in groups with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). * CDL Class A driving experience. * Proven experience conducting training for individuals or groups.
