We are currently seeking a Landscape Architect to join our exciting team in New York! Located in the heart of midtown Manhattan next to Bryant Park, our newly renovated NY office has just celebrated 50 years at HOK. As a Landscape Architect, you will be responsible for designing environments that connect people to each other and to the natural world. You will be working alongside talented architects, engineers, and designers to cultivate a culture of design excellence at the confluence of art and science, blending the power of creative expression with a clear sense of purpose. Together, we work on projects across multiple scales, blending imaginative design gestures with natural ecosystems to create spaces that live in harmony with their surroundings. 

In this role, you will have leadership responsibilities that include:

  • Designing and managing landscape architecture projects with the ability to work with multiple teams to provide guidance on technical development and approval processes.
  • Developing, modifying, and reviewing drawings for landscape architecture projects.
  • Demonstrating creative thinking abilities and contributing to Firmwide design excellence and problem solving.
  • Demonstrating understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
  • Incorporating sustainable and urban design, mobility, ecology, and infrastructure solutions into projects.
  • Managing and maintaining positive relationships with diverse clients and public officials.
  • Assuring HOK document standards are met and archiving documents appropriately.  
  • Assisting in preparation of proposals and participating in client interviews.
  • Understanding intra company agreements, contracts and deliverables and assuring HOK standards for project management are met.
  • Mentoring staff and proactively engaging and providing opportunities for development.
  • Actively promoting a collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Fostering a commitment to external and internal client service.
  • Assisting with HOK marketing efforts and public presentations.
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in Rhino, AutoCAD, V-Ray, Sketchup, GIS, Ecotect, Enscape, Lumion, and Grasshopper.
  • Proficiency in BIM, Revit preferred.
  • Proficiency in NewForma and Deltek preferred.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture or architecture plus 10+ years' experience; or equivalent in appropriate education and experience required. 
  • Master's degree in landscape architecture or urban design preferred.
  • Registration with current license preferred.
  • LEED credential required within 6 months of employment. 
  • Knowledge of Construction Administration.
  • Previous experience with with civic and campus architecture, including public and private projects, plazas, streetscapes, medical research buildings, city agency and process, and/or stadium design, preferred.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education and location.  The reasonably expected salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000.
